While many proposals have called for the government to sell its stake in Deutsche Telekom and utilise the proceeds thereof for upgrading its broadband infrastructure, Merkel’s party is confident that Germany’s economy is strong enough to support a separate 5G network, in addition to its fibre-optic broadband network.
