SCMP: China to develop its own private military companies to protect overseas projects

China plans to establish its own private military enterprises in order to guarantee the security of international projects in unfavorable parts of the globe, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) Hong Kong edition. West Asia, Africa, and Latin America are seen by Chinese authorities as places that present a security risk.

According to the publication, Beijing has considered using private security firms to guarantee the safety of Chinese businesses due to armed conflicts involving Israel, the Palestinian movement of Hamas, and Russia and Ukraine.

Specifically, the subject of security for Chinese nationals and businesses was covered at a Beijing conference hosted by the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations and the China-Africa Business Council.
