Lonely Planet, specializes in guidebooks, published a rating of the best tourist destinations in Europe in 2017.

1. Zagreb, Croatia

Zagreb was named the best tourist destination in Europe this year. The city has many historical and cultural attractions. The upper city is the historical center of the former settlement of Hradec. It’s located on top of a high hill, and connected to the Lower town by cable car. The most noteworthy are the church of St. Mark with a mosaic roof of multi-colored tiles, the tower of Lotrscak, the church of St. Catherine, the stone gate, the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the square of the Ban Jelačić Square, the square of Marshal Tito, the square of King Tomislav.

In the capital of Croatia, travelers are invited to admire the street art, visit the bomb shelter of the Second World War, as well as try local cuisine and craft beer.

2. The Island of Gotland, Sweden

Gotland is a Swedish-owned island in the Baltic Sea. The main city of Gotland - Visby - is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. He is in the lead among other settlements in Sweden by the number of restaurants. In addition, Lonely Planet especially note the beauty of the island's landscapes.

It’s not widely popular among tourists as the place is primarily positioned as an agricultural region. Alentejo is the best option for travelers who dream of seclusion, silence, familiarity with original cuisine. During the trip you can enjoy quiet sunsets, long walks, while the cost of the trip will be quite low.

7. Germany

Germany is rated as one of the safest tourist destinations in the world. Germany is well known as a health tourism destination, with many of the resorts sprung up on hot springs, offering treatment or prophylaxis with the help of mineral water and/or other types of sanatorium treatment. The most visited tourist regions in Germany are the East Frisian and North Frisian Islands, in the Baltic Sea of Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the Rhine Valley, the Bavarian Forest, the Black Forest and the Bavarian Alps.
