Several European nations are experiencing very high temperatures, The Guardian reports.

16 departments in France will implement the "red" level, the highest level of weather danger, on Tuesday, while 68 departments will adopt the "orange" level. 

On Tuesday, temperatures in France are anticipated to hit 36-40 degrees Celsius, prompting 200 schools to either close or modify their hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. 

Daytime temperatures in Spain will stay over 40 degrees Celsius for the next two days, while nighttime temperatures will hit a minimum of 25 degrees. 

El Granado, a city in Spain, set a new record temperature for June in the nation - 46 degrees, on Saturday. The former record was set in 1965, when temperatures in the city of Seville reached 45.2 degrees. 

In Portugal, seven out of the 18 districts are experiencing a red weather alert. Temperatures are predicted to decline on Wednesday. 

Seventeen cities in Italy will face a red weather alert on Tuesday, with an additional city experiencing the alert on Wednesday, according to ANSA. On Monday in London, the temperature reached 29.7 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 29.3 degrees established in 2001.
