Specifically, Bayer will cease manufacturing active ingredients for plant protection products at the Dormagen facility, which has roughly 1,200 employees. Consequently, 200 of them will lose their jobs.

The firm will additionally cut back production operations at the Frankfurt am Main location, where active ingredients and final products are manufactured. It will divest certain operations and relocate others to current sites. The Frankfurt location has approximately 500 employees, yet Bayer plans not to terminate all of them.

Bayer's employee council and the chemical labor union IGBCE have resisted the company's proposals.
