US President Donald Trump is considering the option of launching another significant military action against Iran following initial talks between Washington and Tehran aimed at limiting Iran's nuclear program and its development of ballistic missiles, which did not result in any meaningful progress, according to CNN.

The channel reports, citing sources, that the options he is currently considering involve US airstrikes targeting Iranian leaders and security personnel believed to be responsible for the killings that occurred during protests in the country, as well as strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and government buildings.

The report highlights that Trump has not yet finalized his decision regarding any additional steps. Despite this, he believes his military strength has increased since early January, partly due to the deployment of a US carrier strike group in the area.

Sources report that in January, the United States and Iran communicated with each other, including through Omani diplomats, as well as between US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The option of having a personal meeting was also mentioned, but it eventually did not happen.

Sources indicate that there were no serious direct talks between the United States and Iran.
