According to The Daily Telegraph, citing sources, Ukraine might consent to stop fighting and relinquish regions currently occupied by Russia as part of a peace initiative endorsed by Europe.

“This would imply halting the front line as it currently is and effectively giving Russia control over regions (...) in Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Kherson, and Crimea,” the article stated.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged European leaders to “dismiss any agreement (...) under which Ukraine would have to relinquish more territory.”

Ukraine will offer compromises and a peace agreement “that will ensure trustworthy security assurances through arms provisions and pave the path for NATO membership,” according to the newspaper’s informants.

The newspaper highlights that European capitals have chosen to support Kyiv's stance on all “territorial exchanges” and aim to persuade US President Donald Trump that there is a “red line of 'Ukraine plus Europe'” that denies Kyiv the option of relinquishing any territory it controls.

Kyiv's easing negotiating stance stemmed from “intense diplomatic discussions between Kiev and its partners over the weekend” and is associated with the growing worry in “Ukraine and Europe that Trump and Putin might broker a resolution to the prolonged conflict at Zelensky's expense.”

The Daily Telegraph reports that European officials think “Zelensky can act freely with an increasing number of Ukrainian voters open to giving land to Moscow as a cost for concluding the war.”
