Father Prefers Daughters Death than to Allow ‘Strange Men’ to Touch Her

An Asian father was arrested ac charged with allegations of death of his daughter after the father refused help to save his drowning daughter claiming that her daughter would be dishonoured if she was touched by strange men.

The incident happened at a beach Dubai in the UAE. The daughter was 20 years of age.

The father had prevented the life guards from rescuing her even as the daughter was drowning.

Authorities form the Dubai police said that the father had said that he would prefer that his daughter die rather than she be touched by a strange man.

Recalling the horrific incident, Lt. Col Ahmed Burqibah, Deputy Director of Dubai Police’s Search and Rescue Department said that a group of children were swimming in the beach when suddenly, the 20-year-old girl started drowning and screaming for help. Upon hearing the cries, two of the rescue men present at the beach rushed to save the girl, Burqibah said. The daughter had come along with his siblings and parents to the beach for a day of picnic.

“However, there was one obstacle which prevented them from reaching the girl and helping her. This obstacle was the belief of this Asian man who considered that if these men touched his daughter, then this would dishonour her. It cost him the life of his daughter,” Burqibah told to local news agencies in Dubai.

“This is one of the incidents which I cannot forget. It shocked me and many others who were involved in the case,” said the experienced law enforcement office of Dubai Police.

The rescuers being ‘strange men’, the father had reportedly not allowed them to touch his daughter as touching her daughter would have ‘dishonoured’ her, reports said.

“The father was a tall and strong man. He started pulling and preventing the rescue men and got violent with them,” Burqibah said. It was at this point that the father had said that he preferred his daughter to be dead rather than be touched by ‘strange men’

This caused delay in the rescue operation and the fight with the girl’s father resulted I the death of the girl as she drowned.

It was reported that the tow rescue men were very close to the spot of the incident and had the father allowed the rescuers to do their routine job, the girl could have been easily saved, said Burqibah. She just needed to be pulled out of the water, he added.

Following the incident – death of the 20 year old daughter, the father was arrested by Dubai Police, Lt. Col. Burqibah informed the local media in Dubai.

The charges filed against the father were stopping the rescue team form doing their job and unintentionally causing the death of his daughter.

“He was prosecuted and sued by the concerned authorities” informed the Dubai Police.
