A blaze at a New York aluminum plant, likely to suspend production of Ford Motor's F-150 trucks for months, could lead to potential profit losses of up to $1 billion for the automaker, according to Evercore ISI analysts.

The fire at Novelis' aluminum factory on September 16 has interrupted a large share of production until the first quarter of 2026, the company informed Reuters. This will affect Ford's aluminum resources for the remainder of the year.

"Novelis is among multiple aluminum providers for Ford. Following the fire almost three weeks back, Ford has been collaborating closely with Novelis, and the whole team is dedicated to addressing the situation and examining every possible option to reduce potential disruptions," stated a Novelis representative.

Experts think the blaze will probably affect other car manufacturers, but Ford will experience the most significant repercussions.
