“To enable employees to plan for the future, we are extending the possibility to work from home until June 30, 2021 for those positions that do not require a stay in the office,” said CEO Sundar Pichai in an address to employees.
“I hope this will give you the flexibility you need to balance work and caring for yourself and your loved ones in the coming year,” he said.
Pichai also said that more than 40 Google offices around the world have resumed their work.
The company originally stated that its employees will work remotely until the end of 2020.
During the pandemic, more than 16.4 million cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in the world, about 650 thousand people died. Another 10 million people have recovered.
