Head of Maersk Energy Division to step down

Deputy CEO of A.P. Moller-Maersk and Head of the energy division of the company Claus V. Hemmingsen will step down his post and leave the company as part of the restructuring, Maersk said in a statement.

"At the end of June 2019, Claus Hemmingsen will leave the post of Deputy General Director of AP Moller-Maersk A/S (APMM) and General Director of the energy division and leave the company, having successfully completed separation of divisions related to the oil and oil industry from APMM", - the release notes.

Hemmingsen began work at Maersk in 1981. For many years, he held various management positions, including Head of the drilling unit. In 2007 he joined the board of directors, and in 2016 he became Deputy General Director and Head of the company's energy division.

The board of directors of Moller-Maersk decided to allocate the drilling business to an independent company at the end of February, and on Tuesday this decision was approved by the shareholders. Listing of the new company is scheduled for the Copenhagen Stock Exchange on April 4th.

Maersk was founded in 1904 in the Danish city of Svendborg. It works in 130 countries, the staff totals about 80 thousand people. Net profit in 2018 was $ 3.22 billion against a loss of $ 1.16 billion in 2017.
