Horseback Riding is Banned In Nigeria in The Fight Against Terrorism

Nigerian authorities imposed a ban on horseback riding in the northwestern state of Borno.

By applying such measures authorities are trying to deal with the militants of the terrorist group "Boko Haram", which raid the Nigerian villages ahorseback. The ban will untie the hands of the Nigerian military, who will be able to shoot from a distance every rider without clarifying the circumstances being certain that civilians will comply with the requirements of the authorities and do not sit on a horse.

Nigerian authorities, dedicated to combating terrorist group "Boko Haram", which hosts in the north-east of the country, have come up with, they hope, an effective way to solve the problem. Authorities banned riding on horseback in the state of Borno, more than others suffering from the actions of "Boko Haram". The fact is that horses are now the main means of transportation of the terrorist group’s militants. The militants were forced to go for horses after the Nigerian army deprived them of access to places where they can fuel their cars. Now the militants commit horse raids on remote Nigerian village, burning them, killing men, raping women, taking girls with them.

Nigerian authorities are expecting, after the ban, the militants will dare to violate it, meanwhile all civilians would refrain wisely. The military commander of Borno State, Colonel Tukur Gusau, told reporters: "We know that only the terrorists would violate this prohibition. And our forces will take appropriate action, waiting for terrorists". That is, when any rider is seen in the state of Borno, the military will be able to immediately kill him, not approaching it and figuring out if he is a peaceful resident or a "Boko Haram" terrorist.

The ban was introduced after talks with the country's authorities and the authorities of Borno Council leaders, who will have to notify all of the civilian population of the state. One of the leaders said he was satisfied with the adoption of the ban, which is also endorsed by the most influential person of the region - Borno emirate Sheikh. "We welcome this ban, and we reported on his introduction to all our subjects, who are also happy about it. It is aimed at putting an end to the new wave of cavalry raids of "Boko Haram" militants", - said the leader of the district Dikva Malam Ba`Kura.
