Industrial Production Grew in France and Italy

France and Italy recorded growth of industrial production in September - by 0.1% and 0.2%, respectively, according to the national statistical offices.

Volume of industrial production in France increased by 0.1% in September 2015 compared to August, when the index rose by 1.6%, according to the French statistics agency Insee. Relative to the September 2014, industrial production increased by 1.8%.

Analysts surveyed by Bloomberg had expected a decline compared to August by 0.4%. The decline in annual terms coincided with the forecast.

Volume of production in the manufacturing industry in France in September remained unchanged from August, when it grew 2.2%.

Agriculture and food, and manufacturing of electronic and machinery industries demonstrated growth in September (22.4% and 1.8%, respectively). Mining and quarrying, electricity and water production increased by 0.7%.

In III quarter 2015, industrial production increased by 0.4% compared with the previous quarter, manufacturing industry - by 0.1%. In annual terms, the growth was 0.7% and 0.6%, respectively.

In Italy, industrial output in September increased by 0.2% compared to August, when the index fell by 0.5%, according to the Italian statistical agency Istat. Experts surveyed by Bloomberg had expected the index to increase by 0.6%.

The industrial production index, taking into account the calendar factor, rose by 1.7% compared to September 2014.

In III quarter, growth, relative the previous quarter, was 0.4%. In January-September, industrial production increased by 0.9% compared to the same period last year.
