International Symposium on Climate Change Opens in Rome

The international symposium devoted to problems of climate change, where about 20 experts from the different countries participate, opened on Wednesday in the Italian capital.

The Roman meeting is organized in anticipation of the 21st conference of the parties of the framework convention of the UN concerning climate change, which is going to take place in December in Paris. The participants task is to make the contribution in the fight against climate changes, proposing the common decisions, which will help to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide.

Alexander Likhotal, the president of the International Green Cross, arrived to the Italian capital to discuss the problems connected with climatic changes. Green Cross is an ecological organization founded in 1993 by the ex-president of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev, the adviser to the U.S. President Bill Ritter and also experts from Australia, Greece, Pakistan, Great Britain, Germany, Canada and Spain. The famous journalist Giulietto Chiesa, and also politicians and public figures takes part in a symposium speaking from Italy.

Alexander Likhotal, the president of the International Green Cross, opened the symposium speaking for Mikhail Gorbachev who did not arrive to Rome for health reasons.

Organizers of the Roman meeting pay much attention to the figure of the former USSR president the long ago dealing with environmental issues.

The result of two-day work of conference will become adoption of the declaration in which the international experts plan to appeal to heads of states to start immediately to apply preventive measures and to accept long-term strategy for fight against climate changes.

Change of all-planetary climate is one of the most important international problems of the XXI century. Special concern is caused by the general prompt growth of dynamics of cataclysms, which is observed in the last decades. Today, Earth has a big risk of misunderstanding and underestimation of all factors and scales of influence of various space and geological processes on global climate change.

Until recently, at the end of the XX century, some scientists made various hypotheses and theories of gradual climate change. But in practice, everything appeared a little differently. The careful analysis of the natural cataclysms number’s growth, extreme weather conditions worldwide, and also statistics of space and geophysical parameters in recent years showed a disturbing tendency to their significant increase for a short period. These data testifies that the assumptions, made by a number of scientists concerning that climate change of Earth within 100 years and will have more gradual character, are incorrect as this process occurs much more dynamically.
