Iran is ready to talk with Europe on resuming the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding its nuclear program, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani.

“We're dedicated to finding a diplomatic resolution. The negotiations can be concluded as soon as feasible if the other party possesses the required political will,” the spokesperson informed reporters at a press conference held at the ministry.

As a result, he said, "all parties (...) return to fulfilling their obligations under the deal."

Iran was allegedly accumulating enriched uranium stockpiles, according to a study released by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in December 2023. This is a major source of concern for the EU, according to remarks made in January of this year by Peter Stano, spokesperson for EU senior diplomat Josep Borrell. Brussels feels that the Iran nuclear deal needs to be reviewed.

As long as certain requirements are met, U.S. President Joe Biden has stated that he is willing to rejoin the nuclear accord as well.
