Juul e-cigarettes banned from sale in the US

The sale of electronic cigarettes and Juul Labs cartridges in the US has been outlawed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). A license to distribute Juul products was denied as part of the prohibition. All sales of the company's goods within the nation must halt right away.

According to FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, M.D., "Today's decision is another step in the FDA's commitment to ensuring that all electronic cigarettes and electronic nicotine delivery devices presently being supplied to consumers satisfy our health requirements."

Juul Labs, which requested permission to market its menthol and tobacco-flavored e-cigarettes in the US market, supplied management with data that was examined over the course of two years before the decision to prohibit was made. Regulators had already prohibited the sale of Juul e-cigarettes with fruity flavors in the US in 2019. In the US as a whole, regulation of the sale of flavored e-cigarettes was tightened at the same time.

This resulted from identification of several hundred cases of smokers acquiring lung illness and from identification of more than a dozen fatalities that medical experts connected to e-cigarette use. The FDA also took a tougher position against Juul Labs because, in the eyes of the authorities, the business targeted youngsters and teens in its product advertisements.
