Overview's satellites will gather solar energy and send it as near-infrared radiation to solar power facilities on Earth, where it will be transformed into electricity at any hour of the day.

This radiation cannot be seen, is weaker than sunlight, and poses no danger to humans, animals, or aircraft.

Under the terms of the agreement, Meta will gain early access to as much as 1 GW of capacity. The system will offer "modular scalability" for its AI framework, as stated in Overview.

The system's first orbital demonstration is scheduled for 2028, with commercial operations set to begin in 2030.
