In early June, the agency reported that the startup sold equity totaling $300 million and secured loans amounting to $5 billion. It requires additional funding since it has utilized a significant portion of the capital it previously acquired.

xAI could obtain a $650 million reduction from one of its suppliers, aiding the startup in reducing expenses.

Musk established xAI in July 2023. The initial iteration of the Grok AI model came out in November of that year, while the final (third) version was introduced in February 2025. According to Bloomberg, the worth of xAI at the conclusion of the first quarter was approximated to be around $80 billion.

From its founding until the start of this year, xAI has secured about $14 billion in funding.
