According to the state edition Global New Light of Myanmar, the Military Council of National Defense and Security unanimously decided to extend the state of emergency.

The military of Myanmar arranged a coup and imposed a state of emergency in February 2021. The National League for Democracy, which won the election, was represented by its president, prime minister, and whole executive board being detained.

The military claimed that the coup was caused by widespread falsifications. Over 850 people lost their lives during months-long nationwide protests.
