According to Politico's sources, the EU might decide on the next set of anti-Russian sanctions following the New Year holidays.

The report indicated that the decision on the 20th round of sanctions against Russia is not anticipated until after the holidays.

The source states, "This is not a priority at the moment." Another source from Politico mentioned that, based on their information, the European Commission will start talking about concepts for a new package in January.

The publication mentions that "informal talks" regarding the 20th round of sanctions are taking place, but these are considered "standard, routine work." "Until now, nothing has attained the status of permanent representatives from EU nations," the report indicated.

Anitta Hipper, spokesperson for EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas, mentioned earlier that the EU is moving forward with the 20th package of sanctions against Russia, aiming, among other objectives, to enhance the impact of measures on tankers that the EU claims are carrying Russian oil.
