“It's obvious,” he replied when asked a related question. “They will depart once the threat has subsided.”

“It would be a dreadful scenario if I failed to send them,” the president stated.

During the weekend, Trump approved the dispatch of National Guard troops to the Los Angeles region following disturbances amid protests against immigration enforcement actions.

As reported by ABC television, by the evening of June 9, the count of National Guard troops deployed to California rose from 300 to 1,700.

On the evening of June 10, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that an additional 700 Marines from the Camp Pendleton military base were deployed to the regions experiencing unrest.

The actions of the Trump administration provoked unfavorable responses from local officials. California Governor Gavin Newsom declared that the state's attorney general has initiated a lawsuit contesting the validity of Trump's decisions related to the deployment of National Guard personnel to Los Angeles.

In reply, President Trump labeled the governor of California and the mayor of Los Angeles as “incompetent.”
