US Energy Secretary: There are no guarantees for the safety of oil companies in Venezuela

The United States military is not currently offering security assurances to American oil companies operating in Venezuela, according to US Energy Secretary Chris Wright.

When asked about the issue during an interview with CBS News, Wright replied, "At this time, no." He also mentioned that due to US influence, especially through its control of Venezuelan oil sales, Washington is confident that the situation in Venezuela will improve.

Additionally, Wright expects that American oil companies will expand their operations in Venezuela.

On January 3, US forces in Caracas detained Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and brought him to the United States. US officials allege that Maduro is involved in drug trafficking activities.
