One of the largest US oil and gas companies, Chevron, announced purchase of Anadarko Petroleum, one of the key producers on the shelf of the Gulf of Mexico.

The transaction will amount to $ 33 billion, or $ 65 per share, Chevron’s report says. It is reported that Anadarko shareholders will receive 0.3869 Chevron shares, plus a $ 16.25 surcharge for each Anadarko share. With this acquisition, Chevron will replenish its portfolio with "attractive shale and offshore, as well as gas assets of Anadarko."
