During the study, experts from the organization tested effectiveness of these drugs, prescribing them in a total of 11 266 hospitalized patients. At the same time, the most promising treatment regimens for COVID-19 were used.

As a result, it turned out that the drugs do not reduce the risk of death in COVID-19 and do not reduce the number of patients on ventilators.

The international study was named SOLIDARITY. It is noted that its results have not yet been reviewed.

In July 2020, WHO stopped trials for hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir/ritonavir due to their uselessness.
