As reported by US Central Command in the Middle East (CENTCOM), last Thursday Iran fired a ballistic missile towards Kuwait, where the Pentagon-run Ali Al-Salem Air Base is located. Kuwaiti missile defense systems intercepted the missile.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) asserted that it hit the American airbase in response to US activities in the Bandar Abbas region.

CENTCOM announced that U.S. troops intercepted four Iranian kamikaze drones on Thursday night and targeted a ground control station in Bandar Abbas, where preparations for a fifth drone launch were underway. The statement highlighted that the military's operations were strictly defensive since the drones presented a danger to U.S. vessels in the Gulf of Oman.
