US officials have permitted foreigners to utilize the AI models. According to the announcement, Anthropic plans to start reinstating access for users globally on July 2.
On June 26, Anthropic revealed on X that it would reinstate access to Mythos 5 for select US companies after obtaining the necessary approval from the US government.
In mid-June, Anthropic restricted access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 upon receiving an order from the US government. The company had to restrict access to the AI models for overseas users, including those in the US, as well as the company's international employees. Anthropic opted to sever all users' connections from the AI models.
The company indicated that the apprehension from US officials was because of a possible weakness in Fable 5. Anthropic specified that the model underwent testing alongside US authorities, that strong security protocols were established, and that no other industry device offers complete protection against hacking.
