According to preliminary statistics from the IDC, US company Apple surpassed South Korean Samsung to win the top spot in the list of the biggest smartphone makers at the end of last year.
Apple shipped 234.6 million smartphones in 2023, up 3.7% from the previous year, according to IDC estimates. The market share of the corporation was 20.1%. In the fourth quarter, Apple shipped 80.5 million units, an increase of 11.6% over the same period in 2022.
Samsung's market share was 19.4% with 226.6 million smartphones shipped in Q4, a decline of 13.6% from the previous quarter.
Chinese company Xiaomi ranked third among the biggest smartphone makers; in 2023, its shipments fell to 145.9 million, a 4.7% decline. Concurrently, during the fourth quarter of the previous year, the statistic had an annual growth of 22.7%, culminating in 40.7 million.
