Apple's CEO Tim Cook had earlier revealed the intended price hike during an interview with The Wall Street Journal. As reported by sources from the WSJ, the firm allocates $10-13 billion each year for RAM and internal memory chips.
The price of the MacBook Air has increased to $1,299, from $1,099. The entry-level MacBook Neo will rise to $699 from $599, while the MacBook Pro will begin at $1,999, increasing from $1,699. The least expensive 11-inch iPad Pro will be priced at $1,199 (up from $999), while the iPad Air will be $749 (previously $599).
The cost increase will also impact the HomePod smart speaker, which will go up to $349 from $299, and its mini variant ($129 from $99), alongside the Apple TV ($199 from $129).
As stated on Apple's website, iPhone prices are set to remain stable for the time being.
The company’s spokesperson stated, "The swift establishment of new AI data centers has resulted in an astonishing rise in the need for memory and storage," mentioning that "the company has never experienced such a significant and quick escalation in component costs."
