Biden told reporters that the price of gasoline had risen by 75 cents a gallon since the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine.

"With the current actions, it's going to go even higher. But I will do everything in my power to minimize the price increase here at home because of the actions of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin," Biden stressed.

He also called on American energy companies not to raise prices and not to "take advantage of the situation" at the expense of American consumers.

On Tuesday, Biden announced a ban on Russian energy imports.

It was also previously reported that gasoline prices in the US had reached an all-time high of more than $4.17 a gallon (3.785 liters).
