On Thursday, April 16, the Dutch airline KLM declared it would be canceling 80 round-trip flights at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol during the coming month, the agency reports. This aligns KLM with American United Airlines, German Deutsche Lufthansa, and Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific, which have already cut routes to lessen the impact, the report indicates.
As reported by analytics firm Cirium, global capacity for May decreased by about 3 percentage points: 19 out of the 20 largest airlines decreased their flight totals. The company is updating its original prediction of 4-6% growth for the year.
