As stated in a Boeing press release, the net loss for the January-March timeframe decreased to $7 million, or $0.11 per share, in contrast to $31 million, or $0.16 per share, during the same period last year.
Excluding one-time items, the loss amounted to $0.20 per share, well below the average estimate of $0.83 per share by analysts polled by LSEG.
Boeing's revenue for the quarter rose to $22.22 billion, up from $19.5 billion the previous year.
Revenue from Commercial Airplanes rose 13% to $9.2 billion in the last quarter, with deliveries up 10% to 143 planes. The 737 series production continues at a rate of 42 units each month.
At the end of March, the division's order book reached a historic $576 billion and included more than 6,100 aircraft. The firm obtained orders for 140 airplanes in the initial quarter.
