“It will enhance our collaboration in security and defense efforts. Numerous subjects are addressed, including the defense sector, as well as military movement, peace development, crisis handling, and combating hybrid threats, to mention only a few,” the EC president stated during a press conference in London on Monday following the inaugural EU-UK summit.
Von der Leyen added that the consensus achieved at the summit represents “the initial move towards the UK's involvement in the European defense investment program SAFE.”
She mentioned that it would include new prospects for the defense industries of the parties and “offer enhanced, more unified assistance for Ukraine” as well.
