In a conversation with reporters, the European Commissioner highlighted the significance of both current and future negotiations, stating that they "help prevent unnecessary tensions."
He stated that under the umbrella of the initial working group on adjusting trade and investment, the parties consented to promptly create "a collaborative mechanism for overseeing trade flows as a means to aid in the rebalancing of our trade."
He stated that the objective of the European side was clearly outlined from the beginning: "to start rebalancing trade relations between the European Union and China."
He described the conversations as "intensive, focused, and constructive."
"Our teams are currently intensifying their efforts, and I will visit Beijing this fall to evaluate advancements." The EU Trade Commissioner added that they possess a specific mandate and an ambitious schedule to achieve concrete outcomes by October.
