“We urge both parties to show restraint and take prompt actions to de-escalate the situation. The EU urges a negotiated, mutually agreeable, and enduring peaceful resolution to the conflict,” El Anouni stated during a briefing in Brussels on Wednesday.

He mentioned that Kallas talked about the matter with her colleagues from India and Pakistan. The Indo-Pakistan dispute will also be discussed at a casual gathering of the EU Foreign Affairs Council taking place in Warsaw on May 7-8.

A representative for the European diplomatic leader highlighted that the EU firmly denounces the terrorist attack in the Indian region of Jammu and Kashmir that led to fatalities.

“We denounce terrorism in all its shapes and expressions. The offenders need to face justice,” El Anouni stated.

On Wednesday evening, India's armed forces executed airstrikes targeting infrastructure within Pakistan and areas of Kashmir under Islamabad's control. The armed forces of Pakistan struck back.
