The European Commission approved Swiss duty-free retailer Dufry's acquisition of Italian airport and highway catering company Autogrill.
The merger will result in a travel industry behemoth. When Autogrill and Dufry announced the deal in July, they stated that the combined company would be given a new name.
"Given its limited market impact, the Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns," the EU executive said in a statement.
