For the first time Chinese state procurement includes Tesla electric cars

A batch of Model Y electric cars from the American corporation Tesla was recently purchased by several state-owned enterprises in Shanghai's pilot free trade zone (FTZ) for corporate use, according to Xinhua news agency, which cited local authorities.

This is the first time that government contracts have incorporated Tesla electric vehicles.

The cars were included to Jiangsu province's updated list of state-purchased new energy vehicles in June.

Sun Yuanxin, a professor at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics said that more chances would arise for businesses worldwide if China remains open to international trade.

At a meeting with joint venture representatives in May, Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Ling Ji stated that China is in favor of joint ventures participating equally in government procurement.
