Among other aspects, the measures address the so-called knowledge and information sector (K&I), which encompasses experts in online search, advertising, and trade. The marketing, research, and communications teams as well as the central development team are also impacted.

The total of employees who have received layoff offers is uncertain. K&I employs approximately 20,000 individuals.

Google informed the TV channel that the “voluntary exit program” is applicable to employees based in the U.S., with certain divisions transitioning to a hybrid model as well.

Earlier this year, certain other U.S. teams established a voluntary exit program with severance pay.
