The meeting took place with the participation of Venezuela's Minister of Hydrocarbons, Paula Henao, and Hector Obregón, who is the head of the state-owned PDVSA company.
Eni has entered into a program agreement with the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and PDVSA to restart oil production, specifically focusing on the Junin-5 field. This field, which is owned by PDVSA with a 60% stake and Eni with a 40% stake, is a heavy oil field situated within the Orinoco belt and holds reserves of 35 billion barrels.
Eni also mentioned that it is involved in gas production projects in Venezuela. The company is operating at the Perla field, which is part of the Cardón IV license, the largest offshore gas field discovered in Latin America. Eni holds a 50% share in Cardón IV, while the Spanish company Repsol owns the remaining 50%. Cardón IV has recently signed a Sustainable Development Agreement, which is intended to ensure the continued and resumed production at the Perla field in a sustainable manner, boost the volume of output directed towards the domestic market, and establish opportunities for potential future exports.
Eni also holds a share in the PetroSucre joint venture, where PDVSA owns 74% and Eni has 26%, and this joint venture is working on the Corocoro offshore field.
