Japanese financial authorities to discuss global financial situation

Nikkei newspaper reports that representatives of the Japanese Ministry of Finance, the Bank of Japan, and the Financial Services Agency are coordinating the possibility of a meeting on Friday evening to share information on the state of the financial and capital markets.

According to the newspaper, this will be the first time the three organizations have met since the yen's sharp depreciation in September 2022.

Head of the Ministry of Finance, Shun'ichi Suzuki, stated during a news conference that official Tokyo "continues to cooperate with the authorities of other nations."

The minister continued, "We are carefully observing trends in both domestic and international financial markets as well as their effects on the stability of the financial system."
