O'Leary assumed leadership of the largest budget airline in 1994. He is recognized for his strict stance on pricing.

Ryanair maintains very low ticket prices but imposes charges for nearly all on-board services, such as seat selection, and the fee for surpassing the carry-on baggage limit can exceed the flight's fare.

The press release states that if O'Leary remains with the company until April 2032 and achieves specific "ambitious" objectives during that period, he will have the right to buy more than 10 million shares at a set price of 26.7 euros each.
