Mitsubishi Power Ltd. President Takao Tsukui anticipates a major rise in orders for turbines used to produce electricity from natural gas, due to strong demand in the United States and the Middle East, according to Bloomberg.

Mitsubishi Power expects gas turbine orders to grow by more than 20% in 2025
Tsukui forecasts that in 2025, the company's clients will place orders for turbines with a total capacity exceeding 70 gigawatts, which is roughly 20% higher than the 2024 order volume of around 57 gigawatts.

"I believe we will surpass 70 gigawatts," Tsukui stated while speaking at the Singapore International Energy Week conference. "And we do not anticipate that demand will slow down further."

He added that deliveries are already planned until near the end of 2028, and new customers will not receive their ordered turbines until 2029 or 2030.

Mitsubishi is working to boost its production capacity, which will help increase the supply of turbines. The high demand for gas turbines is largely due to the ongoing construction of data centers, along with the growth of manufacturing and electrification efforts in developing countries.
