The other positions in the top five were taken by other major technology companies: Apple Inc., which was the leader last year, moved up to second place. Microsoft Corp. stayed in third place. Alphabet Inc. climbed from eighth to fourth place, while Amazon.com Inc. rose from 19th to fifth place.
Daniel Martin, a senior fellow at the Drucker Institute, pointed out that the biggest and most successful companies in the technology industry have been better at using new technologies and drawing in new talent compared to other companies.
Not all technology companies saw improvements in their rankings. Only eight companies remained in the top 20, down from 11 last year. For example, Intel Corp. dropped from fourth place to 25th, and Adobe Inc. fell from ninth to 28th.
The top ten companies with the best management quality also include Mastercard Inc., Procter & Gamble Co., International Business Machines, Johnson & Johnson, and Caterpillar.
