Over 180 abortion rights protesters detained in Washington, D.C.

A protest against abolishing women's access to abortion was held in the heart of Washington, D.C.

According to Capitol Police's tweets, 181 protesters in all were detained. The demonstrators stopped traffic on two streets.

On June 24, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a nearly 50-year-old decision that had protected women's right to abortion at the federal level. Today, it is up to the states to decide whether and when women in their jurisdictions can end their pregnancies.

In addition to the nationwide protests, the demand for abortion medicines soared. American officials worry about a rise in radicalism. The country's laws should include the right to abortion, according to President Joe Biden.
