The United Kingdom is recognized as the best place for IT and technical specialists by employees of companies such as Salesforce, Microsoft, Abcam, Google, Softcat, Apple, SAP and Facebook.

Advertising agency GTB and restaurant chain Bella Italia were among the non-tech companies in the top 10 that gave Britain high marks as a country to work in.

The second top 10 firms whose employees are happy with their country of work include such players as pharma giant AstraZeneca, payments system American Express, JP Morgan Bank, The Body Shop, Johnson & Johnson, Nando's and Just Eat.

According to Glassdoor CEO Christian Sutherland-Wong, the coronavirus pandemic has had a negative impact on all companies, but it has also exposed the true attitudes of businesses toward their employees. "This year's winning employers proved that even in unusual times, they are willing to accept the challenge and support their employees," he said.

Employees gave high marks to employers who embraced transparent leadership, career opportunities and a welcoming company environment.
