Tesla raises prices in the U.S., China, Japan and Canada

Tesla Inc., which has cut costs on its most popular vehicles since the start of the year, increased pricing on its Model Y and Model 3 electric vehicles in the United States, China, Japan, and Canada.

The U.S. carmaker increased the beginning pricing of its Model Y and Model 3 electric cars in the U.S. by $250, according to information on the company’s website. After numerous price hikes in the past, it occurred a second time in less than two weeks.

Tesla in China upped the cost for the aforementioned models by 2,000 yuan ($289.39).

Prior to this, the company reported its lowest quarterly gross profit margin in two years, below forecasts following significant price cuts it implemented to boost demand and fend off escalating competition.
