The Financial Times reports that Bombardier has over 3,000 employees in the United States across nine locations. Purchasing is performed from 2,800 suppliers based in the United States. Approximately 50% of the 5,100 planes used by Bombardier's clientele are located in the United States, as reported by Reuters.
On August 22, Washington enacted 50% tariffs on certain Canadian imports, such as beer and cheese. Canada imposed tariffs between 15% and 50% on American products totaling $27.6 billion. The parties were unable to find a compromise and finalize a trade agreement after weeks of discussions.
