Usain Bolt, One Of The Best Sprinters Ever, Said Facing 'Stressful Situation' In Efforts To Retrieve Lost Millions
The world record holder in the men’s 100 and 200 metres sprint Usain Bolt that he was facing a "stressful situation" as he was attempting to retrieve more than $12.7 million that has mysteriously gone missing directly from an account that he had with an investment firm in Jamaica.

Earlier in January, the 36 year old Bolt was informed that the total amount of money in his account with Kingston-based Stocks and Securities Ltd (SSL) had mysteriously come down to just $12,000, according to lawyer Linton Gordon, who was quoted in reports in the media on January 17.

"It's tough you know, but I think through the years I've competed it has helped me to understand and focus on what matters," Bolt told reporters on Friday.

He informed about the incident to the public while speaking at the inauguration of the Gibson McCook Relays in Kingston, where he was introduced as the athletics meet's ambassador for the 50th year.

"I will leave the matter in my lawyer's hands and focus on my family, try not to think too much about it because it's a stressful situation," the 11-time world champion added.

SSL said in a statement on Jan. 12 that it had become aware of fraudulent activity by a former employee and had notified law enforcement, adding that it had taken steps to secure assets and strengthen protocols.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force said its fraud and financial investigation teams were looking into "alleged fraudulent activities at (SSL) that are said to have affected Mr. Usain Bolt's accounts, among others."

Gordon stated that Bolt's account was intended to serve as a retirement fund for the eight-time Olympic champion and his parents.

Bolt retired in 2017 after dominating global sprinting for a decade, reviving a doping-plagued sport and becoming a household name in the same way that Brazilian soccer legend Pele and American boxing champion Muhammad Ali were.
