The DPA of the Netherlands announced that the organization breached the EU General Data Protection Regulation by keeping data on European drivers on US servers.

The data includes bank information, pictures, IDs, and sometimes criminal histories and health records.

Drivers in France filed a complaint regarding violations, resulting in a fine being issued in the Netherlands, where the company’s European headquarters is situated.

Uber intends to dispute the penalty.
