Amazon to invest €15.7bn to expand data centres in Spain

According to a statement from the firm, Amazon.com Inc. plans to invest €15.7 billion to expand its cloud infrastructure in Spain.

Amazon Web Services (AWS), the company's cloud subsidiary, intends to build data centers in Aragon, Spain, with the backing of the local government.

Amazon estimates that the whole amount of AWS investments made up to and including 2033 will contribute €21.6 billion to Spain's GDP. It is anticipated that the development of cloud infrastructure would result in employment of roughly 17.5 thousand people.

The company's 2021 goal is greatly expanded by the fresh investments. AWS declared at the time that it will put €2.5 billion into Spanish data centers.
