Inflation is still too high, which has an impact on consumers' spending power, he said on RTL radio, adding that "our basic projection predicts positive growth this year."

The Bank of France revised its estimate of the country's economic growth downward on Tuesday.

The second-largest economy in the eurozone will expand by 2.3 percent this year, according to the latest forecast. Growth will go up to 1.7 percent in 2024 after slowing to 1.2 percent the following year.
